Every operator is scored on 12 categories from live testing: redeemable value, cash-out speed, game depth, mobile experience, ownership transparency, bonus fairness, support quality, and more. Front-runners are re-checked monthly, the full list quarterly.
The full scoring model
Every brand in our ranking is scored across twelve categories on a 0-to-5 scale. Each score is anchored to a specific, observable behaviour rather than a general feeling. A 5 means “top of the current market on this exact dimension.” A 3 means “clean, no red flags, no notable strengths.” A 0 means the site fails the category outright, most commonly by hiding information the reader needs to make a purchase decision.
Redeemable value (0-5). The effective dollar-per-Sweeps-Coin of the welcome bundle after subtracting the standalone Gold Coin price. A pure freebie scores five; a bundle where the SC is priced above one dollar apiece scores zero.
Cash-out speed (0-5). Median observed redemption time from click to receipt, log-scored so a two-hour cash-out is not lumped with a two-day one.
Game depth (0-5). Number of Sweeps-Coin-eligible titles, split of studios represented, and freshness of new-hit availability.
Mobile experience (0-5). Load times, portrait-mode game rendering, and how the promo and cash-out flows survive a small screen.
Ownership transparency (0-5). Whether the corporate entity, licensing status, and state-availability list are printed clearly rather than hidden in a footer link.
Bonus fairness (0-5). Playthrough multipliers, game weighting, expiry windows, and whether hidden caps quietly gut the headline number.
Support quality (0-5). First-response time on live chat plus how well the second and third responses actually resolve a real question.
Ongoing free routes (0-5). The generosity and variety of ways to earn Sweeps Coins after the welcome bundle is spent.
Payment method breadth (0-5). How many redemption rails are usable in your state and which of them are the fast ones.
Verification friction (0-5). How much ID, how fast the review, and whether repeat cash-outs re-trigger the check.
Promotion depth (0-5). The size and cadence of reloads, tournaments, and seasonal drops beyond day one.
Terms transparency (0-5). Whether every important number on a promo card is visible before you click “claim.”
How we weight the categories
Not every category carries equal weight. Cash-out speed and redeemable value together account for roughly a third of the final grade, those are the two things a reader is most likely to feel in the wallet within their first week. Bonus fairness and terms transparency add another quarter, because they are the categories most likely to hide bad news. The remaining eight categories share the rest, with mobile experience carrying a slight extra loading for brands whose audience skews mobile-first (which, in the U.S. sweeps market, is nearly all of them).
Each individual review shows the raw twelve-score breakdown and the weighted headline grade side by side, so you can rescore a brand yourself against the categories you personally care about most. A player who never plans to make a purchase can safely ignore the redeemable-value column and rebuild their own ranking on cash-out speed, free routes, and game depth alone.
How and when we re-score
Front-runners get re-checked every calendar month. That means the top ten brands on the current board have their cash-out speed re-clocked, welcome bundles re-priced, and any new promotions folded into the bonus-fairness and terms-transparency scores. Mid-table brands are re-tested each quarter. Brands sitting outside the current top thirty are re-visited on demand, usually when a reader flags a change in support or when the operator publishes a material policy update.
Because sweepstakes casinos revise their promotions constantly, a headline grade can move up or down between our monthly checks. If a brand slides more than half a grade in one cycle we publish a short “what changed” note above the review with the exact category that moved. The archived scores stay visible so you can see the trend line for yourself.
What a Stars & Prizes score does not tell you
A high grade does not guarantee that you personally will have a fast, painless experience. It means the brand has consistently delivered on the twelve categories under our testing conditions, an anonymous ACH cash-out to a U.S. bank account, standard identity documents, no state-specific quirks. Your bank’s processing schedule, your device, and the exact promo you chose can all pull the experience away from our median. Use the score as a shortlist filter, not a guarantee, and read the actual review before you fund an account. That is what the review is there for.
